A substantial extension and refurbishment of an existing detached bungalow in a central location in the centre of the historic town of Farnham.
The existing dwelling was a typical 1960s detached bungalow with ample opportunity to utilise the existing plot and roof space to vastly improve the overall accommodation. A completely new roof was proposed with adjustment of the existing eaves level to provide new accommodation at first floor level. This facilitated more spacious and better connected bedrooms at first floor whilst opening up the opportunity to create more substantial living spaces at ground floor.
The resulting dwelling boasts feature ground to roof level dormer windows set across the L-shaped courtyard, which connects the new grand open plan living space with feature study mezzanine space. Part of the wider proposals was to create a series of outdoor spaces with identity and function, which in turn connect to the internal spaces they serve.
