Warwick Grove

2023 - PRESENT

A strategically formed new-build dwelling in a built-up urban area in south west London, Warwick Grove demonstrates good architectural design in a restricted site.

An existing end of terrace parcel of land presented the opportunity for our client at auction to make use of this brownfield site for a new dwelling. Located adjacent to a terrace of 1980’s dwellings to the west and surrounded by varying sizes of 1960’s flats, the biggest obstacle for the site was overlooking and privacy.

With the assistance of daylight and sunlight modelling, an envelope for possible development was holistically created to inform the fundamental parameters of the design. Carefully positioned rooms in the layout and corresponding areas of obscure glazing make maximum use of the areas of opportunity. The large catslide roof with wrap-around single storey element further maximises the site’s volume whilst creating architectural interest. Overall the project displays how to best utilise brownfield sites in our towns and cities.
