The Detox Kitchen

2015 - 2016

Interior design and project coordination of two Delis for healthy food brand ‘The Detox Kitchen’. The project was set over two locations including the complete fit out for a new flagship store and refurbishment to the original deli on Kingly Street.

Split over two floors, Mortimer Street encompassed a mixed-use scheme supporting a new deli, exercise studio and all associated back of house facilities. A new staircase was inserted to connect the two floors and the layout designed to accommodate seated customers, the steady stream of take away options and those with classes below working up an appetite.

We curated a calm palette of materials, featuring oiled birch plywood for joinery, marble countertops and polished concrete floors. These natural elements contrasted against the bolder, splashes of colour of the softer upholstery and the living wall. The palette of raw, neutral materials represents the healthy, unprocessed ingredients that forms the Detox Kitchens’ raison d’être.

The project at Kingly Street built upon the success of the larger store. We designed and integrated new joinery, bar and seating using the colour and material palette that has become reflective of the brands image.
