The existing grade II listed dwelling has been in the family for generations as part of a wider estate. A growing family facilitated the need to extend, alter and upgrade the existing home sensitively to respect its heritage, whilst meet modern-day needs.
Having been cared for so beautifully to date, much of the work consisted of reconfiguration of existing spaces to better suit and adapt to more contemporary ways of living. This reorganisation of spaces presented opportunities to tie in a new 2-storey addition to the northern side of the property which would house a family kitchen, dining and living space, along with a large master suite above.
Specification of materials finishes and their detailing both internally and externally, keep consistency with those intricate details of the past. External masonry and plain clay tiles to the walls and roof are carefully detailed picking up the subtle appreciation of the traditional craft that often go unnoticed. Splashes of colour in the internal choices bring personality to the internal spaces which are framed with grandeur through exposed oak beams, rafters and trusses.
