FIRST LOOK – FlowerKittle Architects complete the Detox Kitchen

February 2016

Introducing the new flagship Deli for the Detox Kitchen designed by FlowerKittle Architects

Located within the Fitzroy Place development and close to Oxford Circus, the Deli was designed to reflect the Detox brand in both its materiality and layout. A calm palette of birch plywood, marble countertops and polished concrete floors provide a counterpoint against the vibrant colours of the seating, the living wall and the food! The central painted steel stair connects the Deli with a new, bright fitness studio that is host to a variety of classes and further helps promote healthy well-being.

The fit-out was completed in 10 weeks by Blackwell Projects Ltd and opened in January this year. On entering, you are presented with the ever changing living wall and a large marble counter displaying some of the delicious food on offer. Birch plywood forms a datum at low level for vertical elements to spring off from and a large timber framed glazed screen conceals the meticulous preparation of food behind. Located adjacently, the steel stair was designed to maximise the space available for the seated and served areas by looping back on itself and provide views towards the Deli through the slatted balustrade. Extra warmth to the tables are provided by glowing suspended light fittings which are scattered about above tables and counters to be seen by passers-by as they amble past.
